Researcher, suicidologist, educator and public-engagement enthusiast.

I am Dr Si Walker, a researcher at the University of Glasgow working across occupational health, suicide prevention, workplace mental health and evidence synthesis.

My work combines systematic review, mixed methods, historical research and lived-experience involvement. I lead or contribute to SOLVE, RESUME, the Veteran Mental Health Evidence Review, POWER and RETAIN, Long COVID and Working for a Healthy Economy.

Research with practical purpose

I am interested in what people and organisations can actually do differently. That means moving beyond describing problems and towards useful, safe and testable responses that can improve working lives and support people experiencing distress.

Teaching and public engagement

Alongside research, I develop teaching resources in occupational health, research methods, suicidology and health history. I also use comedy and creative public engagement to make difficult subjects more approachable without making them trivial.
